(RUMBEK, LAKES) – The Commissioner of Rumbek North, Abraham Maloth Marier has been killed in an ambush laid by Nuer civilians according to Lakes State government officials. The attackers were chasing after cattle raiders. Agaar youth from Pakom, Luac and Rek of Tonj had gone to loot the Nuer in Mayendit County. They were stopped by the SPLA but refused and went ahead to raid the Nuer civilians.
The Commissioner who had hosted the Commissioners of Mayendit and Panyijiar County while fighting was taking place in their counties was on his way back home after had escorted the two Commissioners to the border as they returned home. However, the Commissioner of Panyijiar had to return back with him because there was still fight in his county.
The convoy fell into ambush and Commissioner Maloth was killed. Also killed was Mrs. Elizabeth Pothdomic, the border advisor of Lakes and Unity States governments. The National Courier understands the youth have returned to Mayendit and Panyijiar
