SPLA Condemns the Murder of Radio Tamazuj Journalist
JUBA) – SPLA Spokesman has condemned the killing of Radio Tamazuj correspondent Pow James Reith and his colleague Puok Pal in Akobo County of Jonglei State, describing it as a barbaric act.Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told Catholic Radio Network on Thursday in telephone interview that it is a crime to kill a journalist, calling on concerned authorities to bring the murderers to book because journalists are civilians and none combatant.
Commissioner of Rumbek North and Female Advisor Killed In Ambush
(RUMBEK, LAKES) – The Commissioner of Rumbek North, Abraham Maloth Marier has been killed in an ambush laid by Nuer civilians according to Lakes State government officials. The attackers were chasing after cattle raiders. Agaar youth from Pakom, Luac and Rek of Tonj had gone to loot the Nuer in Mayendit County. They were stopped by the SPLA but refused and went ahead to raid the Nuer civilians.
Executive Director of Mundri West Killed
(MUNDRI, WES) – Two soldiers from SPLA Logistics Corps on their way to Rumbek were killed and one seriously wounded last night by unknown gunmen while they had parked their truck at a junction for an overnight stopover. One of the deceased has been named as Garang Dhieu Dut from Twic East County.
